Scoops, Stories & Second-Gen Magic 

The story of this ice cream shop begins in 1985, when my mom married my dad and moved to his hometown: Wisconsin Dells. Not long after, she opened a small candy shop in this very spot overlooking the Wisconsin River dam.

Over the years, the space evolved along with the town — first a sweet shop, then a beloved café, and later a bar and grille. When the building was eventually rebuilt to house Bella Goose Coffee, my mom held onto this little corner for ice cream, keeping a bit of the original sweetness alive.

My roots run deep here. I grew up in the Dells and in the world of customer service. Over the last decade, I lived and worked abroad in education and international development, earned my master’s degree, and later moved to Chicago to work in emergency management.

But when the timing felt right, I came home to where it all began, ready to take everything I’d learned and reimagine this little corner in my own way.

And voilà.

A fresh coat of pink paint and lots (and lots) of flowers later, The Dells Ice Cream Shop was reborn: still sweet, still nostalgic, but with a little bit of my own personality mixed in.

Now heading into our second season, my mom is still cheering me on and offering advice from the sidelines while I run with the creative freedom to keep shaping the shop. It’s been the sweetest kind of full-circle moment.
